A Single Center Retrospective Analysis of Patients with Recurrent Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma Undergoing Radiofrequency Ablation

Background: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is used in selected patients with recurrent or metastatic thyroid cancer who have high surgical risk do not accept treatment. However, long-term follow-up data are limited. Here, we present our single-center experience the use of RFA treatment papillary carcinoma (PTC).
 Material and Methods: Patients underwent for PTC at Bursa Uludag University Faculty Medicine between September 2014 January 2021 were included. The endocrinology outpatient clinic follow-ups analyzed retrospectively.
 Results: A total 10 patients, 11 procedures, 13 residual sites evaluated. mean age was 44.50±14.04 years. largest diameter tumor which applied 11.85±5.95 mm. developed no major complications. Two experienced minor duration 51.20±19.86 months. During period, 12 (92.30%) completely disappeared. In one patient (7.69%) tissue detected after RFA. There recurrence procedure site. significant decrease found treated regions (p=0.002). Thyroglobulin anti-thyroglobulin levels significantly different before (p=0.44 p=1.00, respectively). 
 Conclusions: highly effective safe locally PTC. It shows promise as an alternative to surgery control locoregional
